Resident Project Representative / Field Representative

Do you have heavy highway construction experience (earthwork, drainage, paving)? Do you want to travel?

Delta Airport Consultants, Inc. is searching for a Resident Project Representative (RPR) to perform construction observation services for our active projects on various airports primarily in the mid-Atlantic region, including MD, VA, PA and OH. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of construction and/or paving experience with some technical training or equivalent experience (preferably with grading, drainage, asphalt, and concrete construction fundamentals).

Candidates will work on airport/aviation construction project sites in the field and contribute to the firm’s civil engineering projects. Candidates should be able to:


Job Responsibilities:

  • Work in an outdoor environment on an active construction site
  • Experience with grading, drainage, asphalt, and/or concrete construction fundamentals
  • Conduct continual observation (not inspection) of airfield paving, lighting, and grading construction projects
  • Communicate effectively with other team members via email, phone, and in person
  • Write concise field reports
  • Adequately document construction progress
  • Read and interpret construction documents including plans and specifications
  • Document measurement of quantities of materials used on the project
  • Serve as the Engineer’s and the Airport Owner’s liaison with the Contractor
  • Field Representatives are not responsible for the Contractor’s safety practices or the means, methods, sequences, or procedures required for the Contractor to perform the work, nor for supervising the Contractor’s work personnel.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 5 years of construction and/or paving knowledge with some technical training or equivalent experience (10+ years with airport or highway grading, drainage, asphalt, and concrete construction fundamentals preferred)
  • Seasonal employment (construction primarily during warmer months in spring, summer, and fall)
  • 100% travel, occasional night travel, and/or travel for extended periods of time (construction primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region)
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle to maneuver active project sites
  • Willingness to undergo a background check, in accordance with local laws and regulations
  • General computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel


Special Requirements:

  • Environmental conditions of the job; work is primarily outside during construction activities and may occur during inclement weather
  • May be subject to a federal background check to obtain badging access for projects on commercial service airports

Join our LAUNCH Program

LAUNCH is a 24-month program that can lead to a full-time position with Delta Airport
Consultants. Participants will work with a team and contribute to the firm’s civil engineering projects. Rotations will include: CAD, design, planning, construction administration, field observation, project management, and corporate functions such as accounting and marketing.

LAUNCH candidates must have a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school. If you have a strong desire to travel, work on airports, learn and try new things, and gain exposure to all facets of consulting engineering, please let us know! Airport design and planning background, land development interest, internship/co-op experience, and E.I.T. certification a plus.
